Community meal services can be offered by a wide range of entities.  Most recognize meals-on-wheels that deliver to your home.  Many long term care and retirement homes also offer this service, as part of their outreach programs.  Or, arrangements can be made for you to enjoy a meal with others in the community.  Community meal services usually provide hot meals once a day for up to five days a week or frozen meals delivered once a week for the following week.  Volunteers delivering the meals also provide some social contact and an informal check on your health and safety.

We at the Care Guide, as adult children, usually cook a little extra and freeze the meal and then bring a couple of weeks worth of meals for mom.
