Because services consist of mainly meals, social and housekeeping, they tend to be several hundred dollars per month less than assisted living, mainly because of the absence of care supports and the higher cost of the staff that provide that service.

This housing choice appeals to older adults because of the generally well person that it serves and the lesser cost for predominantly "hospitality" services.  Suite sizes are more generous, so you spend more money on a larger suite.

Rates vary widely depending on the location, suite size and building quality, just like your own home. Full kitchens can add to the cost. And the food and service level varies, just like a hotel. Residences typically include two or three daily meals and provide refreshments throughout the day. Social activities may entail some additional cost - such as trips, outings and similar special events.
