INDEPENDENT SENIORS IN THE APARTMENTS
Menno Place has several apartment buildings that are designed for seniors who are capable and independent. These seniors enjoy the company of others at a noon lunch meal that is included in the month-by-month lease. Many seniors living in The Apartments at Menno Place chose to move as a way to enjoy a supportive community of friends and staff.
Independent Living is a community housing model that combines homelike building features and private lockable living units with the basic support services and some socializing opportunities to enhance quality of life and enable seniors to live safely, comfortably, and independently for as long as possible. Pavilion, Terrace West and Primrose Gardens are Independent Living facilities.
ASSISTED LIVING SENIORS
Menno Place has one apartment building where the majority of the apartment suites are registered and licensed with Fraser Health as Assisted Living. This Assisted Living apartment building is Terrace East.
Along with enjoying the company of others at a noon lunch meal and evening meal, assisted living tenants enjoy the additional supports and peace of mind provided by 24/7 nursing support.
Assisted Living residents enjoy:
- 2 meals / day (lunch and supper)
- basic laundry and housekeeping
- 24 hour / day emergency response
- personal care and support for scheduled and unscheduled needs
- organized programs to enhance quality of life
Residents in Terrace East qualify for additional support through an assessment process.
There was a time when care provided in skilled nursing homes was referred to by terms like Intermediate Care, Extended Care and Complex Care. But since the most important aspect of long term care is that people are living in a facility and not just being treated, we now refer to it simply as Residential Care.
