We have exciting news!
As of July 2012, we are operating under the new trade name of “Caregiving Matters”. The legal name of our registered Canadian charity “Losing Our Parents”, # 82293 0616 RR0001 stays the same as does our legal status.
Why the new name:
The goal with our new operating name is to better focus on family caregivers. We selected our new operating name for two reasons:
- Caregiving does matter
- There are many issues or “matters” surrounding caregiving
"Caregiving Matters" is an Internet-based registered Canadian charity. We offer education and support to family caregivers. 90% of our efforts are done on-line and 10% produces local educational events. We also honour and thank family caregivers with our new program called: "Caregiver Heroes". Please drop by our website or call our office to learn more about us.
Why this charity?
The Board of Directors, along with other organizers and volunteers know how life changing caregiving can be. We know of the great joys, honour and value that our efforts make to the people for whom we care. We also know of the great stress, extra financial responsibilities and added pressure that caregiving brings to our lives and our worlds. We understand the complicated, seemingly endless issues and efforts that go into caring.
We offer a forum for peer support that allows caregivers to share their stories, their journeys and celebrate the lives and gifts of loved ones. We also offer a place where caregivers can learn and gain insights into the many issues of caregiving. We are open 24/7, with care and compassion for all.
Our business model is sustainable because we are an Internet-based charity, totally run and managed by volunteers from various professional disciplines. Our measured growth, with increased community and corporate support, reflects how we are moving forward to reach out to caregivers in new and exciting ways. We focus on delivering real value by producing programs and projects that have positive impacts on individuals, families, and communities.
