Welcome to Open Doors 2008! The dates are set for this year's annual Open Doors event - September 27th and 28th - and we're once again gearing up in celebration of International Day of Older Persons! For those of you not familiar with Open Doors, whether you're a senior, family member or a provider of seniors' housing, please read on and peruse this site to find out more. What Is Open Doors? Open Doors is an education and awareness campaign that aims to help seniors' and their families better understand the seniors' housing options available to them, and affords the public a welcoming opportunity to connect with the fine homes and residences in their communities. Throughout the Open Doors weekend, retirement homes, long-term care homes and supportive housing residences will be quite literally opening their doors to their communities, hosting open houses, giving tours, offering refreshments and entertainment for the entire family, and generally showing off! While we may be somewhat biased, believe us when we say, seniors' housing has come a very long way!! Started in 2005 by The Care Guide, Open Doors is an annual event taking place right across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Who Should Attend? Again, all biases aside, everybody and everyone should attend Open Doors! Whether you're contemplating a move to a retirement home yourself, or you're in need of information about seniors' housing on behalf of an elderly loved one, or you just want to take part in a fun and interactive community event, Open Doors is for you. Based on the individual events put on by the hundreds of homes that have taken part in past Open Doors, there truly is something for everyone! Where Is Open Doors Happening? Open Doors is taking place across Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta. Click here to find participating homes in your area or contact us. |
